We hold our in person Minnesota Hoarding Task Force Business Meetings on the 1st Thursday of each month. All are welcome, no RSVP required.
We are looking forward to hosting Carla Tourin From LegalWise.
Carla Tourin is a Minnesota-licensed attorney who serves as the Executive Director of LegalWise, an educational nonprofit partnered with Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, MN.
LegalWise supports, educates, and inspires Mitchell Hamline graduates who are growing solo and small community law practices. Operating since 2013, first as the Bricker Lavik Community Law Firm, then as the Collaborative Community Law Initiative (CCLI), the program was originally a standalone non-profit organization housed in a brick-and-mortar building in the Twin Cities. In this early iteration, the program provided resources to graduates opening practices in the Twin Cities area, who were able to avail themselves of CCLI’s office space, in-person mentoring and networking opportunities, and interface with colleagues.
LegalWise attorney-advocates run their own law practices and provide services directly to their clients. They provide accessible legal services to underserved communities, including flat fees, sliding-scale fees, and unbundled services. Underserved communities, sometimes referred to as “legal deserts,” are those where legal services are not accessible to the people in that community. This may be due to financial constraints, lack of legal representation available in a particular region, or limited legal representation available in a certain practice area to certain groups of people. The LegalWise attorney network is made up of Mitchell Hamline School of Law graduates around the country and is growing nationwide.
This hybrid meeting’s physical location is still to be determined.
