Nicki Smith is the supervisor of the Adult Protection Assessment team at Anoka County. She has served
in the Adult Protection program at Anoka County for 9 years in the roles of investigator, intake worker,
lead worker and supervisor. Before landing in Adult Protection, Nicki has experience working with
various vulnerable populations from providing in home behavior therapy to children on the autism
spectrum to directly supporting individuals with serious and persistent mental illness in residential
settings. Nicki has a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Catherine University in Sociology and Critical
Studies of Race and Ethnicity.
Lori Benson is the supervisor for Adult Protection Intake and Family Caregiver Connection for Anoka
County. She has worked for Anoka County for 34 years; 24 of those years in Adult Protection. Prior to
working for Adult Protection, Lori worked as a financial worker in Economic Assistance and as a certified
assessor in Long Term Service and Supports. Lori has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
